Winner picked and I found an old recipe!

Winner has been picked! Thank you for those who participated in my contest!

During an Art Class at UW, we were given a task to make something with a found object from a thrift store. Well the one I got was a recipe box and the cool thing was that it had recipe from the 1950's and 1960's. I am so interested in making some of the dishes. Here is one that I found which I think was popular back then but if you think about it now, would turn people off. Has anyone tried something like this?

Win a super cute pair of Sugarbowljewelry earrings!

  • I know this posting is different but I wanted to try something new. Jennifer and I had a small business venture several years ago and made jewelry and sold it at a craft fair (it was really fun!) Our name was Sugarbowljewelry and we did something we have always wanted to do at least once, which was sell stuff together. I found a pair of earrings that was left from that craft fair and wanted to give it to one lucky reader. It's for pierced ears and sterling silver chain with Swarovski crystals. I'll pick the winner with the most points!

My Fair Lady

One of our favorite movies was My Fair Lady with Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison. Jennifer got me into watching older movies. If it was not for her, I would never have watched:

  • Oklahoma

  • Singing in the Rain

  • Rebeca

  • High Noon

  • The Greatest Show on Earth

  • And much more that I don't remember

One movie I do wish to forget was Dr. Dolittle and no it's not the one with Eddie Murphy, this was also with Rex Harrison....gah...if you ever wanted to see bad animal impressions, weird story line (I read the book and the book was wayyyyy better) and an awkward semi romance, this movie is for you.

Also did you know that back in the 50' or around that time, for any movies, kissing scenes had timed limits and restrictions. But like the movie North by Northwest, they actually found a way around it by having the kiss scenes be in spurts of 3 seconds. So, this bypassed the Motion Picture laws and still made the movies of the 1950's etc. very romantic but also very classy I think....

I guess I didn't like this Fire Drill...

Still unpacking my stuff, I came across more journals that I did when I was a kid. This one made me laugh a lot. I vaguely remember this event but I guess it was important enough for me to write it. It's fitting that the notebook memo that I wrote it in has a picture of a cat on it. This cat looks like my cat Steak-y!

Europe 2001

Back during the summer of 2001, Jennifer and I decided to backpack through Europe. Long story short, we had to tell our parents that we were on a "study abroad trip", had Shuttle Express pick us up so that they won't question why there were no other students at SeaTac, and crossed our fingers that we will get to Europe safely and have a friend of Jennifer's pick us up in Munich. Overall, we visited most of Western Europe, only spent under $3,000 each including airfare and did something which we have been wanting to do since we were kids, I think we pinky swore it.

It was a whole different story when we got back though, our parents found out we were not on the "study abroad trip" and were very upset saying they were just about to call the FBI. In the end, my dad who has not spoken this whole time finally said in a fatherly way "you guys smell like homeless".

I found some drawings that I did during the trip and I really drew pretty well back then!

Nothing like a good talking with a Best Friend

I want to rewrite this blog and be more active. My husband and I just moved to a new house and I found more letters and journals that I wrote back when I was a kid. Boy was I detail oriented. Reading some of these were very interesting and made me realize that I was like the way I am even as a child, just now I have better grammar and more interesting things to write than what I ate for breakfast. I will post those later.

I had my best friend Jennifer stop by today and she helped me unpack some of my things. She pulled all of my turtle necks and anything that dated me to the 90's. Me: 'But I lived in the 90's." Jennifer: "That does not mean you have to look like it." Okay she is right. I do need to get rid of these...there were some other clothes but they are too embarrassing to present to the world if I want to be in the 2011's. :)

Afterwards, we talked about what we wanted to do....with our life! What do we do with our lives? Yikes! I don't know. Well we both agreed that we need to do some soul searching. Will get back to you on this..let me book this in Outlook calendar for next Friday at lunch...j/k

Here are the turtle necks below, yes I was wearing them up until now and yes I had 4 different colors, here is a picture with flash and without. I think I need to buy new clothes, ASAP!
